About My Practice

With a strong focus on child and adolescent development, I provide individual therapy to children and teens. I strive to create a safe, compassionate, and supportive space where children and teens feel understood, valued, and respected.

My integrative approach to therapy recognizes that every child and teen is unique, and so my treatment is tailored to each child’s developmental stage, personality, strengths, challenges, values, and goals. An important part of my work is helping young people develop a stronger sense of self-esteem, confidence, resilience, and dignity, while supporting them to recognize and build on their strengths.

I value an approach that is family-centred with an appreciation that each child and family bring their own distinct experiences, strengths, and needs. I work closely with parents and caregivers, recognizing their important role in their child’s life. Throughout therapy, I provide psychoeducation, coaching, and practical strategies to help parents and caregivers better understand their child’s needs, strengthen their relationship with their child, and support progress toward treatment goals.

A Bit More About Me

I hold a B.A. in Psychology and an M.Ed. in School and Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Alberta. My graduate research explored how children’s individual characteristics, parenting, and relationship quality contribute to social-emotional and moral development.

I have experience providing psychological counselling and general assessment in group and private practice settings. In addition to formal training in various individual therapeutic techniques, I have recently completed additional training in Emotions Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) and I am nearing completion of PEERS® social skills programming to support adolescents who may struggle socially.

Earlier in my career, I worked in a multidisciplinary treatment facility supporting children and youth with mental health challenges through specialized, trauma-focused therapeutic and educational programs. I am now excited to launch my own practice and look forward to supporting children, teens, and their families on their journey toward greater well-being, confidence, and connection.

Outside of my rewarding professional work, I enjoy family time, travel, genealogical and historical research, and cheering for my favourite sports teams. I am infamous among those who know me for my shelves and piles of books – some books are started, some are finished, some have been re-read, and some remain unopened – what better analogy is there for life?
